Things to Consider When Choosing the Right Dubai Accommodation
Choosing the right place to stay can mean the difference between a good vacation and a fantastic one. When choosing the place best suited for you, you’ll want to consider the following:
• The type of accommodation you would like to stay in
• The purpose of your visit and length of stay
• Proximity to the places you want to see
• The “personality” of the District.
• And, of course, your budget.
Type of Accommodation:
Dubai offers a vast selection of accommodations, from hotels and hotel apartments to short-term apartments and villas. Ask yourself these questions:
• Do I prefer the quaint confines of a hotel room or something a bit more homey?
• Do I prefer to eat out and have easy access to restaurants on site, or would I prefer to have the option of dining in with a nice, easy home cooked meal for me and my family?
Some people prefer staying in a hotel, but more and more people are beginning to see the advantages that the freedom of staying in a short-term holiday rental offers.
The Purpose of Your Visit and Length of Stay:
• Are you in Dubai on business, or is it a family vacation?
• How long is your stay?
These questions can also help you in determining the type of accommodation and the proper location.
If you plan to be in Dubai for a week or more as a family holiday or extended business trip, then a short-term holiday rental may be the better way to go.
A short-term rental offers you the amenities of home as well as the added space for your comfort. And, you’d be surprised; often times the short-term rental is the more cost-effective choice.
• Do I need easy access to a certain area? The Financial District? Dubai Internet or Media Cities?
• Where will me and my family be spending most of our time?
• Where are the attractions I/we most want to see? Would I/we prefer to be near the ocean?
These questions can help determine which District is right for you.
“Personality” of the District:
Many of the Districts within Dubai cater to certain types, and have a personality of their own. Ask yourself these questions:
• Do I prefer the sights and sounds of a chic, cosmopolitan environment?
• Or, would I prefer a more family-focused atmosphere?
Click here learn more about the “personalities” of Dubai’s various Districts.
Often times your budget will dictate where you will end up staying, some areas such as Palm Jumeirah will be a bit more expensive.
However, do keep in mind when planning your budget to include the cost of food and the cost of getting where you want to go.
The cost of a taxi or rental car can add up. If you plan to spend a lot of time at the Financial District, Dubai Internet or Media Cities, or if the sites you want to see are near Sheikh Zayed Road, finding a location with easy access to the Dubai Metro can save you a bit money. Also, if you are staying in a hotel, most likely you will be dining out three times a day, and that can rack up a pretty hefty food bill. A short-term rental comes with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area, making the low-cost alternative of dining in an easy way to lower your holiday food budget.
Once you’ve asked yourself these questions, it’ll be much easier for you to decide on the best place for you. Learn more about the Dubai accommodations we have to offer.
Novotel Al Barsha, The New Dubai Hotel is Seeing Green
Novotel has announced the opening of their newest Dubai hotel, in the Al Barsha district. Novotel, a mid-range hotelier owned by Accor, is no stranger to the Dubai. Accor also owns the Ibis chain of hotels. With 24 facilities in the area, Accor expects to add 11 more by 2015, beginning with Novotel – Al Barsha at a cost of 350 AED ($96 USD) per night.
Going ‘Green’ to Add Beauty to Dubai Hotel
But Novotel – Al Barsha will not just be another hum-drum Dubai hotel made of massive steel and aluminium cladding. This 41-story Dubai hotel is going green. Plans to create a “Green Wall” that will cover the exterior of the first 6 stories are underway. As part of a low-maintenance garden, the 1200 m² wall will be covered with approximately 27,000 plants, adding beauty to the area surrounding Sheikh Zayed Road. It will be equipped with an automated irrigation system and fertilizer injection pumps intended to provide all the necessary chemicals and food sources to the greenery.
The concept of going green is also not new to Dubai and the other Emirates. The country has intensified its awareness of the need to add greenery. Requiring that all future residential and commercial projects consist of at least 25% outdoor landscaping and green space, the UAE is attempting to add some colour to its desert landscape.
Green Space Per Person has been Increased by Dubai’s Government
The government of Dubai announced back in 2010 that it wants to increase the green space per person to 25 m², from 13 m² by the year 2025. Accomplishing such a goal will cover 38,000 hectacres of Dubai in green. That equates to 25% of the Emirate. One such project which opened in recent months is the Dubai Miracle Garden. That $11 million USD attraction, located off Umm Suquiem Road in Dubailand, covers 72,000 m² with over 45 million flowers, making it one of the largest flower gardens in the world.
Dubai is also considering other green projects such as the “Flower Tower”, a green-themed high-rise covered in trees and plants, proposed by French architect, Edouard Francois. Francois designed a similar project in Paris, but on a much smaller scale. The “Flower Tower” would raise the greenery up tens of metres off the ground.
Only time will tell just how green Dubai can go and what new and unique idea it can come up with for the next Dubai villa, hotel or apartment.

In an initiative to create a mobile government within the next two years, Dubai eGovernment has developed a mobile application, known as mDubai. The new mobile application, with its ePay gateway, will allow both individual and corporations to pay for over 250 government services online through credit cards and debit cards from 5 participating banks throughout the UAE.
The mobile application will serve as a one-stop shop for government transactions. The UAE has one of the highest number of mobile application users per capita in the world. With a population of approximately 5 million people, the UAE has more than 8 million mobiles. That’s 1.6 phones per person, surpassing both the US and Great Britian. And it is estimated that 90% of those mobile devices are smartphones. With statistics such as these, a move to mobile services will be extremely beneficial.
By providing these government services through electronic channels, Dubai is aiming to ease the lives of people and businesses that interact with them. The ePay system will save time and money, as well as avoiding the inconvenience of having to physically visit a department or bank.
At present, many of the government facilities have been overwhelmed by the queues of customers needing their services. Several years ago, when the government instituted a requirement that all residents must carry an identification card, it became a logistical nightmare. On several occasions, the government had to postpone its deadlines because they could not handle the magnitude of people within the allotted timeframe. In the end, it took nearly two years for the process to be completed.
If the technology had been in place at the time, this process could have been implemented quicker and more efficiently, making it much easier for both parties.
Awards for Innovation
Dubai eGovernment, after receiving two awards for their innovation, showcased its new application and payment gateway at the Mobile Show 2013 in a presentation entitled “Together to ease your life – improving the lives of people and businesses in Dubai through mobile.”
Upon accepting the awards on Dubai eGovernment’s behalf, Sumaia Bin Hammad, director of Communication and Business Development (CBD) was quoted as saying, “At Dubai eGovernment, we seek to offer innovative methods to make it easy for our customers to complete their transactions either online or through their mobile devices, in line with our ‘Customer First’ strategy.”
In addition to its use with the mobile application, the ePay system will also integrate with other methods of online payment, such as PCs and kiosks.
So watch out. Soon waiting in queues for government services will be thing of the past, and with a touch of a button, the accessibility will be 24/7, 365 days of the year.
And You Can Book Luxury Dubai Hotels with the Same Ease
With our easy online booking system, you can experience the same convenient 24/7/365 service. Just a touch of a button and you can book a Dubai Hotels , or one of our many luxury hotels in Dubai. We also carry a wide selection of Dubai apartments which offers spacious comfort and modern amenities.
Dubai Holiday Villa Added Splash to our Dubai Vacation
Dubai itself is an amazing place to spend a holiday vacation. With so much to offer, it’s impossible to be bored. Whether shopping in the world’s largest shopping mall, or reaching new heights “At The Top”, the Observatory Deck situated on the 124th floor of the Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building. But renting a Dubai holiday villa with our close family friends provided an extra splash of awesome to our time spent in this magnificent city for a holiday we won’t soon forget.
We arrived to our Dubai holiday villa in Dubai on the Palm Jumeirah and were captivated by the simplistic elegance of the 500 m² with its smart, modern décor. The warm hues offset the cool, crispness of the marble tiles, striking the perfect balance between plush and welcoming.
The only problem we encountered was that we couldn’t decided whether to venture out to see the sites, or stay in and enjoy all the amenities our Dubai holiday villa had to offer. Our private pool was calling us to take a dip in its cool inviting waters. But wait, there’s the bright blue water and its white sandy shores of our private beach coaxing us to come play. Fishing, kayaking, rafting, building sand-castles, or soaking up the warm rays of sun, it was as if we had a private resort all to ourselves.
We spent our evenings relaxing over a bottle of wine while grilling up some mouth-watering meals on the outdoor BBQ as we watched the exquisite colors of the evening sky as the sun set. BBQ chicken, grilled lamb chops, marinated shrimp, and fresh sea bass from the local grocer, every night it was a delectable feast that tantalized our taste buds. The kids swam until they were water-logged then it was off to the TV room to challenge each other to another round on the PlayStation.
After indulging in our succulent fare, we adults laughed and reminisced under the evening stars. The light balmy ocean breeze added to our lively conversation. I can’t remember feeling so relaxed. It was as if this Dubai holiday villa had extracted every bit of stress I had consumed over the past several years and tossed it into the warm waters of the Arabian Sea. I wasn’t just experiencing one of the top tourist spots of the world in all its glory, with largest this, and tallest that, I was relishing in my own private haven, my heaven on earth.
And in the short week we spent in our Dubai holiday villa we created even more incredible memories to share in future years. “Dubai Holiday Villa Added Splash to our Dubai Vacation”

Government Plans to Increase Revenue with new Dubai Hotel Deals
The city of Dubai has earned a reputation as being the playground to the rich and famous with all its luxury hotels, including the world’s only 7-star hotel, the Burj Al Arab. But the Dubai government has just announced its aggressive plan to double the number of tourists visiting this amazing city by year 2020.
This means they must attract 20 million people interested in experiencing a Dubai vacation with cheaper hotels and other accommodations. To do this, Dubai must broaden its appeal to vacationers traveling on a more modest budget.
How? By creating the right mix of economy, mid-range and luxury hotels. Don’t expect to see many more 5-star luxury hotels, the city is already top-heavy in those accommodations. But there is a huge opportunity for growth in the other two, and economy hotel operators are working on plans to increase the number of economy and mid-range facilities.
At the present time, Dubai hotels earn the highest revenue per room in world at an average of 1278 AED ($350 USD) per night, but that is about to change. Accor, the parent company of Ibis and Novotel, two well-known economy and mid-range brands in the area, is expanding 30% by the end of 2015. The beginning rate for their newest property which is opening this month in the Al Barsha is 350 AED ($96 USD)
Dubai hotel deals priced 73% less than the average, they’re sure to attract customers.
Citymax Hotels, another economy hotel chain, is also planning to grow it presence in the next 5 years. Currently the company operates 3 hotels in the area, but they are adding 3 more in Business Bay, Deira, and TECOM. Citymax has a strong following with guests from Russia, China, and other Asian counties, a growing market for Dubai.
Even Hilton, is looking to get in on the action, with a keen focus on the quick layover market, an area they see has key, and in the past hasn’t been given much attention.
Budget Airlines Flying to Dubai Also set to Increase
Another area visitors can expect to see some change is in the number of budget airlines flying into Dubai. With the opening of Dubai World Central airport, there is sure to be even more. The most popular of budget carriers, Flydubai, expects to accommodate over 6 million passengers this year.
So, as you can see, a Dubai vacation is no longer just for the wealthy. Dubai hotel deals are popping up all over and soon this popular tourist sport will be more affordable than ever.
